Short Term Rentals
On January 3rd, 2023, Crow Wing County passed a Short Term Rental (STR) Licensing Ordinance requiring all property owners that operate a short term rental within the County’s Planning and Zoning jurisdiction and those cities or other local government units (LGUs) who have a contract with the County to regulate STRs in those areas, to obtain a license through the county beginning upon Board approval.

Crow Wing County
​Crow Wing County is requesting assistance to ensure our E911 system continues to work effectively by allowing emergency responders to quickly locate those in need of emergency assistance. The proper display of your address number and sign assists emergency responders in quickly locating you when an incident is reported and may reduce response time, save lives and property. If you have a blue 911 address sign on your property, please always keep the sign visible by removing vegetation, debris, snow and other obstruct. If the sign is damaged or removed, please contact the Land Services Department at (218) 824-1010 to assist in getting a new sign installed. If your property is located within the City of Baxter, Brainerd, Breezy Point, Crosby, Crosslake, Jenkins, or Pequot Lakes please contact the city office directly. Under the County Land Use ordinance, E911 address signs or road signs cannot not be altered, defaced, removed, or moved. Townships
The Crow Wing County Finance Department recently completed the Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) for Fiscal year ended December 31, 2024. The report provides a summary of the financial position of the county in a simple, easy to read format. The PAFR breaks down the numbers to show property tax levy and statistics. It includes some fun fast facts and great pictures from across Crow Wing County.
Residents pay property tax to Crow Wing County although not all those dollars are kept there. The county acts as an intermediary and distributes taxes to various groups. Crow Wing County keeps $0.31 of every dollar and the remaining $0.69 is distributed out to schools, cities, townships and special districts.
The report outlines the organization and structure of Crow Wing County, provides a financial overview, and includes data to show the breakdown of tax dollars at work to help residents learn more about the property tax process and where our tax dollars go.
